🚨 Exclusive: The White House made a direct call to FIFA to ask Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun’s red card.

FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee.

FIFA sources insist White House influence could not affect the decision due to the powers contained in Article 27 and the independent nature of the disciplinary panel.

Rob Edwards now in talks with Burnley.🟣

Burnley are interested in Carlos Corberan, but my understanding is he’s currently focused on getting a job in the Premier League.

Former Genoa sporting director Diego Lopez is incoming at Turf Moor and appreciates Corberan, who also got West Brom out of Championship trouble when he took over at the Hawthorns.🟣

🚨 Burnley now confirm Diego Lopez has joined as Chief Football Officer.

🗣️ Lopez: “I am eager to start exploring the great potential of this club. I understand our mission and I believe in what Burnley can become in the coming years, if we all work in the same direction with full determination.

“From my first conversations with Alan [Pace], it was clear there is real ambition here and a plan to match it.

“This club means everything to the town and its people. I want our supporters to recognise their team in the way we play, the players we recruit and how we represent the club. The work starts now.”

🚨 Michael Carrick on what he feels has gone wrong at Manchester United. "If I had the answers, I would not have let it happen. I have tried to do everything I can to not be in this situation."

[Ben Jacobs @JacobsBen]

🗣️ More from Michael Carrick on his future. "I take the responsibility, of course. I accept the responsibility. I respect the position I am in. The responsibility is mine. What else can I say right now?

"I totally understand the situation. I am not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I am carrying on as normal. I love this place. I always do what I feel is best for this football club. Whatever decision is made on anything really, that's kind of it. I am not expecting anything."

🗣️ Michael Carrick to Sky on his future. "It's a tough situation. There's no hiding from it. What it looks like, what's next, I really don't know.

Bournemouth follow up their 3-0 win over Milan with an impressive 3-0 victory over Manchester United. Rayan, Tavernier and Evanilson with the goals at Old Trafford.

Another dismal #MUFC performance full of errors and a lack of quality and fight. They fall to 16th, only one point above the bottom three.

Eight games without a win in all competitions. Michael Carrick's position under massive threat. Lack of summer business evident, especially at full-back, and Carrick looking likely to pay the price. Chants at the end of the match against Jason Wilcox. Team rightly booed off at full-time.

Bruno Fernandes dropped for the game and didn't appear from the bench. Junior Kroupi did come on as a substitute for Bournemouth for the last few minutes in a welcome return from injury.

Bournemouth have won four in a row and kept four clean sheets since losing 5-1 to Chelsea. Take nothing away from their magnificent win, but Manchester United made it all too easy. Zero response after the Champions League loss to Como.🔴🍒

[Ben Jacobs @JacobsBen]

Manchester United 0 Bournemouth 3. Evanilson gets to the ball ahead of Senne Lammens and finishes superbly. Manchester United so careless and scrappy in the build up. Bournemouth well worth their lead.🍒

Cunha coming on for Tielemans. No sign yet of Bruno Fernandes.

Bournemouth lead 2-0 at half-time. Rayan and Tavernier with the goals. Visitors in control.

Another error-strewn and lacklustre half by Manchester United. No response at all after the heavy Como loss.🔴🍒

Michael Carrick.🤦‍♂️

2-0 Bournemouth. Marcus Tavernier with a tap in after Leny Yoro's slip. Nightmare half for #MUFC.🍒

[Ben Jacobs @JacobsBen]

Manchester United 0 Bournemouth 1. Rayan with the goal. Unmarked at the back post and it's a composed side-foot finish. Fully deserved. Visitors excellent so far.🍒
